The World Economic Forum (WEF) has debunked claims that their initiative, the Great Reset, involves implementing permanent climate lockdowns. These claims emerged from a widely shared article that falsely quoted Nicole Schwab, co-head of Nature-Based Solutions at WEF, as saying that climate lockdowns were incoming.

The article, published by The People’s Voice, alleges that Nicole Schwab made this statement in a newly unearthed video. However, a spokesperson from WEF clarified that the article is fake news and there is no record of Nicole Schwab ever saying this.

The Great Reset initiative, launched by WEF in June 2020, aims to reform economic and social systems in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on various goals, including environmental sustainability, improving health, addressing social challenges, and increasing economic equity. Contrary to conspiracy theories, the Great Reset is not intended to establish a global totalitarian government or eliminate capitalism.

The concept of climate lockdowns has been circulating since 2020, often tied to calls for tackling climate change by taking inspiration from pandemic responses. However, the specific restrictions associated with climate lockdowns remain unclear. Some interpretations mention potential limitations on freedom of movement and consumption of items like red meat.

While the Great Reset does include strategies to reduce carbon emissions, such as ending government subsidies for fossil fuels, Nicole Schwab’s 2020 video only mentions regenerative agriculture as a specific environmental effort.

It is essential to dispel misinformation and present accurate information regarding initiatives like the Great Reset. The fabricated quotes propagated by certain websites aim to mislead and create unnecessary fear. The WEF emphasizes that the People’s Voice article contains false information.

The WEF, a Switzerland-based nonprofit organization, is known for its annual meeting in Davos, where collaboration between public and private entities is fostered. It is crucial to critically assess information and verify sources before accepting and sharing claims that could contribute to the spread of misinformation.
