Florida Man Arrested for Gruesome Chainsaw Murder of 80-Year-Old Wife
A Florida man has been arrested for the brutal murder of his 80-year-old wife, whose dismembered body was found in multiple suitcases last month. William Lowe, from Delray Beach, has been charged with first-degree murder following the discovery of Aydil Barbosa Fontes’ remains. Authorities believe she was shot in the head but have not determined when the shooting took place.
Fontes’ body was found on July 21, when human remains were discovered in a suitcase in the Intracoastal waterway. Two more suitcases were found in the same area on the same day, with two additional bags discovered the following day. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle and an individual in the vicinity multiple times prior to the discovery of the suitcases.
The investigation led authorities to Lowe’s residence through his vehicle tag, which was captured on video surveillance. It was also discovered that an airline scan code found within one of the suitcases referred to Barbosa Ontes / A, sharing the same address as Lowe’s vehicle tag.
Upon securing a search warrant for Lowe’s home, investigators found blood spatter in various areas, including the living room, dining room, bathrooms, master bedroom, and hallway. When Lowe attempted to re-enter the home during the search, claiming he needed keys to a storage unit, detectives became more suspicious. The following day, they searched the unit and discovered a bloodied chainsaw with human hair on the saw.
The motive behind the gruesome murder remains unknown, as the couple had been married for 15 years. Lowe appeared in court on Thursday and was denied bond.
This shocking incident has left the community in disbelief and raises questions about the safety of individuals within their own homes. Authorities continue to investigate the case to bring justice to Aydil Barbosa Fontes and shed light on the motives behind such a heinous crime.
