The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided 16 locations in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, resulting in the arrest of four individuals suspected to be members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). The NIA’s operation is connected to a plot by the PFI to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Patna in July 2022. The PFI is also allegedly planning terror activities and attacks. Among the places searched were Beltangadi, Puttur, Bantwala, Uppinangadi, and Venura. The suspects arrested were named as Mohammed Haris Kumbra, Sajjad Hussain Kodimbadi, Faizal Ahmed Tarigudde, and Samshuddin Kurnadka.
The Popular Front of India is a Muslim extremist group that was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Delhi.
