The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) in Jammu has approved a proposal to allocate funds of Rs 28 crores towards the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for the current financial year. Two Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners will receive the funds to cover their expenditure. The SEC also discussed the procurement of rescue equipment, including excavators, fire-fighting equipment, signal units, and drones with an estimated cost of Rs 8.91 crores, which will be funded through the SDRF. Other initiatives include conducting mock exercises, collaborative capacity building initiatives, and utilizing 400 satellite phones during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra to address communication needs during emergencies. The Chief Secretary proposed the convergence of the State Emergency Operation Centre with the Integrated Command and Control Centre and the Incident Management and Tracking System to optimize emergency response.
