Telugu actor Jayasudha has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a bid to boost the party’s prospects ahead of the Telangana assembly elections. The popular actor, who has also served as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), was inducted into the party by Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy and BJP general secretary and state in-charge Tarun Chugh at a ceremony in New Delhi.
Expressing her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jayasudha emphasized the need to serve the country under his leadership. She stated, Today when we go out of India, people talk about India. What we are today is because of PM Modi. Her decision to join the BJP comes after Kishan Reddy personally invited her to join the party.
Reports suggest that Jayasudha is likely to be fielded as a candidate from the Secunderabad Assembly constituency, which she previously represented. The move is part of the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its presence and improve its chances in the upcoming elections.
Jayasudha’s foray into politics began in 2009 when she joined the Congress party at the invitation of then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. She was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from the Secunderabad constituency in the same year but failed to retain her seat in the 2014 polls. Subsequently, Jayasudha joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2016.
In 2019, she and her son Nihar Kapoor joined the YSR Congress Party led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was elected as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh the same year.
Jayasudha’s entry into the BJP may bring both popularity and experience to the party as it aims to make a mark in the Telangana elections. The decision to field her as a candidate from the Secunderabad constituency indicates the party’s strategic move to strengthen its position in the region.
With her eventful career in both the film industry and politics, Jayasudha’s association with the BJP could potentially influence voters and shape the outcome of the upcoming elections in Telangana.
