Renowned art director Nitin Desai was found dead in his studio in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, expressed his condolences and paid homage to Desai, highlighting his remarkable contributions to the world of set design in Marathi and Hindi films. Desai, a four-time National Award winner, had a special connection with the popular temple, Tembhi Naka Devi, and his art works were highly anticipated by the public.
Desai’s death was reported to the police by a worker on the set. Upon arrival at the studio, the police discovered Desai’s body hanging, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of his death. Maharashtra MLA Mahesh Baldi mentioned that financial stress may have been a factor in Desai’s decision to take his own life.
Throughout his career, Desai worked as an art director on numerous blockbuster films, including Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Jodhaa Akbar, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, and Panipat, among others.

CM Eknath Shinde expressed his deep sadness at the news and stated that it is a sad day for him and the entire film industry.
