Former Chief Secretary’s Appointment as Chief Minister’s Advisor Sparks Political Controversy
The appointment of retired IAS officer Ramsubhag Singh as the Principal Media Advisor to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has sparked political controversy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns over the decision, presenting a video during a press conference where Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had accused Ram Subhag Singh of corruption during the BJP regime a year ago.
Trilok Kapoor, BJP General Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, questioned the Chief Minister’s choice to appoint someone he had previously accused of corruption. Kapoor emphasized that their government had forced Ram Subhag Singh to resign as Chief Secretary due to the corruption allegations, even though they were not proven. Kapoor criticized the Congress government’s decision to appoint the same individual as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister now, suggesting that it indicates corruption within the government.
Furthermore, Kapoor highlighted the lack of coordination within the ruling party, stating that the BJP does not need any operation lotus to defeat them. He pointed out the infighting and contradictory statements made by ministers, including the State Party chief and now MLA Kuldeep Rathore, who have spoken out against their own government. Kapoor predicted that the same fate as other states with similar issues will befall the current Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.
In terms of the Congress government’s performance, Kapoor criticized their failure to fulfill promises made to the people. He stated that despite the development of a double engine government in the state, they were unable to return to power. Kapoor also mentioned the closure of over 950 institutions in the state, which directly contradicted their claims of transformation. He questioned the logic of appointing six Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPS) and over eleven advisors and Officer on Special Duty (OSD), considering the state’s alleged bad financial position, as it would further burden the people and the state exchequer.
This appointment and subsequent political controversy have once again highlighted the ongoing battle between the BJP and the Congress in Himachal Pradesh. The BJP continues to raise concerns over corruption allegations and the lack of coordination within the ruling Congress government. As the political climate in the state remains tense, the people eagerly await answers and clarity on these matters from their elected representatives.
