Los Angeles Dodgers’ star pitcher Clayton Kershaw and his family recently participated in the 10th annual Kershaw’s Challenge Back to School Bash. The event, held at The Dream Center, aimed to provide support to local students and families by distributing 2,500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies. This initiative was made possible through the partnership between Kershaw’s Challenge and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.

Clayton Kershaw, joined by his wife Ellen and their four children, expressed their enthusiasm for the event and their desire to make every child excited about the first day of school. Clayton remembered his own childhood and the joy he felt when receiving school supplies. He hoped that by providing these materials, the children would start their school year on a positive note and understand the value of education.

One aspect that resonated with the Kershaws was the involvement of their own children in the event. As their older kids eagerly helped pack the backpacks, they witnessed the impact of their actions and the importance of giving back to the community.

Apart from receiving backpacks and supplies, families visiting The Dream Center enjoyed various activities such as a petting zoo, ferris wheel, and water slide. UCLA Health also contributed to the event by providing healthcare services such as dental and nursing care.

The Back to School Bash took place shortly after the 2023 Ping Pong 4 Purpose event held at Dodger Stadium. This event supported Kershaw’s Challenge and its beneficiaries, including The Dream Center, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Arise Africa, Both Ends Believing, International Justice Mission, and Hope Walks. The Dodgers’ foundation has been collaborating with Kershaw’s Challenge on various initiatives for several years, highlighting Clayton and Ellen Kershaw’s commitment to philanthropy and giving back to the Los Angeles community.

Nichol Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, commended the Kershaws for their dedication to philanthropy, emphasizing their continuous support and love for the community. Whiteman highlighted their joint efforts in building Dodgers Dreamfields, Kershaw’s Challenge fields throughout Los Angeles, and considered the Back to School Bash as another opportunity to showcase their commitment to the community.

Overall, Clayton Kershaw and his family’s involvement in the 10th annual Kershaw’s Challenge Back to School Bash demonstrates their unwavering commitment to education and giving back to local communities. Their efforts and generosity have made a significant impact on the lives of countless students and families, ensuring a positive start to the school year for many children across Los Angeles.
