Three Senior Advocates Sworn in as Himachal Pradesh High Court Judges, India

Three senior advocates were sworn in as judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday. The oath ceremony took place at Raj Bhawan and was attended by various dignitaries, including the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice of the High Court.

The three newly appointed judges are Ranjan Sharma, Bipin Chander Negi, and Rakesh Kainthla. The oath was administered by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla.

During the ceremony, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena read out the warrant of appointment issued by the President of India, and Secretary to the Governor Rajesh Sharma obtained the signature of the Governor and the newly appointed judges on the oath form.

The event was attended by Lady Governor Janki Shukla, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and several ministers and officials from various departments. The presence of senior judicial, civil, and police officers added to the significance of the ceremony.

Justice Ranjan Sharma, who hails from Dharamshala, District Kangra, was born on August 21, 1968. He has a strong educational background, having received a gold medal in LL.B from Rohtak University. He was enrolled as an advocate in December 1991 and designated as Senior Advocate in March 2019. With extensive experience across different fields of law, Justice Ranjan Sharma brings a wealth of knowledge to the judiciary.

Justice Bipin Chander Negi, although originally from district Kinnaur, was born in Dharamshala, District Kangra. He completed his schooling from prestigious institutions like St. Edward’s School, Shimla, and Delhi Public School in New Delhi. He holds a B.A. Economics (Honours) degree from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and an L.L.B. from H.P University, Shimla. Enrolled as an advocate in 1994, Justice Bipin Chander Negi was designated as Senior Advocate in 2015, and he has practiced in diverse areas of law.

Justice Rakesh Kainthla, born on May 23, 1968, in Shimla, completed his schooling from D.A.V. School, Lakkar Bazar. He graduated from Government College, Sanjauli, Shimla, and obtained his LL.B from H.P. University, Shimla, in 1991. Enrolled as an advocate in the same year, Justice Rakesh Kainthla has garnered a vast range of experience across various fields of law. Prior to his elevation as a judge of H.P. High Court, he served as a District and Sessions Judge in Mandi.

These appointments reinforce the strength and expertise of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, ensuring that justice is served effectively and efficiently in the state. The new judges are expected to bring their knowledge and experience to the court, contributing to the fair and impartial dispensation of justice.
