A Class XII student in Indore, Madhya Pradesh fell victim to a college marksheet fraud and lost ₹10,000. The incident has prompted the police to launch an investigation into the scam.
Ashish Shrivastav, a resident of Bhusamandi Road, visited a science college in the Vijay Nagar area after passing his Class XII exams. It was there that he encountered a man named Dinesh Patel, who made him a tempting offer. Patel assured Shrivastav that he could provide him with mark sheets for all three years of college without requiring him to actually attend any classes.
Given that he had met the accused in the college premises, Shrivastav trusted Patel and agreed to proceed with the transaction. The accused informed him that he would need ₹45,000 for the mark sheets covering three years. Shrivastav handed over ₹10,000 as an advance payment, with the understanding that he would pay the remaining amount upon receiving the mark sheets.
However, upon returning home, Shrivastav examined the documents and became suspicious of their authenticity. He decided to verify the documents with the college mentioned, only to discover that they were not issued by the institution. Realizing that he had been scammed, Shrivastav promptly lodged a complaint at the local police station.
The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 420, 467, and 468 of the Indian Penal Code. They have initiated a search for Dinesh Patel and are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale for students and their families to remain vigilant and cautious when dealing with promises of academic shortcuts or fraudulent activities. It is essential to verify the authenticity of any documents or claims made by individuals before entering into any financial transactions.
The police investigation aims to bring the accused to justice and raise awareness about such scams, ultimately ensuring the safety and security of students pursuing their education.
