Lucas Schott put on a dominant performance on Saturday night, securing his third victory of the season in a thrilling USRA Modified feature race at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley. The Chatfield native had been struggling to find his groove this summer, but that all changed as he led from start to finish, leaving no room for his competitors to pass him on the track.

Schott, a two-time USRA Modified national champion, was in cruise control for most of the 25-lap feature race. Even when a caution on lap 10 bunched up the field, it didn’t faze him. Despite a few more yellow flags, including one with three laps to go that erased his sizable lead once again, Schott proved to be too strong for the rest of the field.

Brandon Davis, Jim Chisholm, Kylie Kath, and Jacob Bleess rounded out the top five finishers in the USRA Modified main event feature. It was a hard-fought race, but Schott’s skill and determination ultimately propelled him to victory.

In the USRA B-Mods division, Dylan Goettl and Joe Chisholm emerged as the winners of the 18-lap feature races. Goettl battled it out with Spencer Stock until Stock’s race ended prematurely due to a flat tire. With Stock out of the picture, Goettl held on to claim his second feature win of the season. Hunter Kennedy finished in second place, followed by Noah Grinstead, Brandon Hare, and Cole Lonergan.

In the second USRA B-Mods feature, Joe Chisholm, the 2022 national champion in the division, overtook pole sitter Cole Bennerotte on lap 3 and never looked back. Despite the race being marred by multiple cautions, Chisholm stayed focused and drove to his eighth feature victory of the season and third at Deer Creek. Brian Shaw, Zach Brom, Gavin Chisholm, and Brody Chisholm completed the top five.

Derek Green continued his impressive season in the USRA Stock Cars division, capturing his 17th feature win of the year in the 20-lap main event. Green led from the start, but points leader Brayden Gjere made a strong push to overtake him. However, with just four laps remaining, Gjere encountered car trouble, allowing Green to reclaim the lead and secure another victory.

Luke Schluetter was the standout in the USRA Hobby Stocks, taking home his third feature win of the season. Schluetter faced stiff competition from Nick Schwebach throughout the race, but he stayed composed and held onto the lead until the checkered flag. Chris Hovden made a late charge but had to settle for third place.

Nick Koehler impressed in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods division, clinching his seventh feature win of the season and second at Deer Creek. Koehler capitalized on a caution-filled race that saw various lead changes and mishaps among the frontrunners. Paul Neisius initially led the race but was eventually overtaken by Kadden Kath and Don Schaefer before encountering trouble himself. Koehler seized the opportunity and surged to the front, securing a well-deserved victory.

It was an action-packed night of racing at Deer Creek Speedway, with talented drivers showcasing their skills and battling for supremacy in their respective divisions. Lucas Schott’s dominant performance in the USRA Modified feature was a testament to his talent and determination, while the other winners displayed their prowess and resilience on the track. As the season progresses, fans can expect more thrilling races and intense competition at the speedway.
