Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured at Sun Bay Apartments in Winter Park
On Friday night, a shooting incident at Sun Bay Apartments in Winter Park, Florida resulted in the death of one man and left another injured. The Orange County Deputies swiftly responded to reports of gunfire at around 9 o’clock, swarming the apartment complex. The sound of gunshots caught the attention of residents, including Michael Knott, who lives in the complex. Knott recounted hearing the alarming pop, pop, pop! just before his brother was about to leave. The scene quickly turned chaotic as law enforcement officers and emergency crews flooded the area.
When the deputies arrived at the apartment, they discovered two victims. The first was a 17-year-old male who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the second victim, an 18-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The shooting shattered the sense of security for those living in the Sun Bay Apartments, leaving them shaken and concerned for their safety. Resident Ashley Roper shared her fear, stating, Stay in the house, but I used to be at work, so this was a little surprising that this happened when I was home. So I am tired of it. So it’s a little alarming, but other than that, I’ll just wait my lease out.
Orange County Deputies have declared this incident an active investigation as they strive to gather more information.
