Tamil Nadu BJP President Urges Government Support for Palm Product Producers
Tamil Nadu BJP President, K Annamalai, recently embarked on a padayatra (foot march) across the state, during which he interacted with producers of palm products in Ramanathapuram district. Annamalai’s aim was to gather information on the needs and government support required for the production of palm products such as Karuppatti (Palm jaggery) and Pathaneer (Palm neera).
In a tweet, the BJP leader urged the Tamil Nadu government to swiftly implement schemes that were announced in the state farm budget and the DMK’s 2021 Assembly election manifesto, which are intended to support and promote the production of palm products. Annamalai criticized the DMK regime, accusing it of making empty promises without taking effective action.
During his visit to Ramanathapuram district, Annamalai visited towns such as Muthukalathur and Paramakudi, where he met with palm producers and workers in Sayalkudi Town Panchayat. Accompanying him on this journey was senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan.
The padayatra of Annamalai, called En Mann En Makkal (My land my people), was officially flagged off by top BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah on July 28. The journey has garnered immense support, as demonstrated by a large crowd of party workers and people who joined Annamalai along the way. The official yatra Twitter handle, En Mann En Makkal, shared a photograph of Annamalai amidst the sea of followers, emphasizing that this was not a crowd gathered for personal gain but one that genuinely supported their leader.
This news highlights the efforts of the Tamil Nadu BJP President, K Annamalai, to seek government assistance for palm product producers in the state. Through his padayatra, he aims to address the requirements and demands of the industry, while also urging the government to fulfill their promises and implement schemes to support palm product production. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to these appeals and if measures will be taken to boost the palm product industry in Tamil Nadu.
