In the wake of devastating thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in Rajasthan’s Tonk district, which led to the death of 12 people, Former Deputy Chief Minister and Tonk Congress MLA Sachin Pilot has urged for immediate relief and financial aid for the victims and their families.
On the orders of Tonk District Collector Chinmay Gopal, the families of the deceased are eligible to receive a compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each. Sachin Pilot has written a letter to State Disaster Minister Govind Meghwal asking him to conduct a survey to evaluate the extent of financial losses suffered by those affected in the storm. Moreover, assistance is being provided to the injured people in different hospitals and community health centers in Tonk.
The heavy storm caused walls to collapse, leaving one man and his two grand-children dead. Seven other victims, all of whom were children between five to fourteen years old, also succumbed to injuries.
In such a crisis, it is paramount to have well-equipped relief teams to help the affected families in any way possible. Supporting the families monetarily or distributing emergency supplies amongst them can help a long way in times of pain and distress. The timely aid from Sachin Pilot to the affected people is very commendable and indeed an attentive example for others to follow.
