Paralympic sprinter Noah Malone is on a remarkable journey that has taken him from winning gold medals to overcoming personal triumphs. Born and raised in Indiana, Malone quickly made a name for himself in the world of para athletics.

In 2019, at the World Para Athletics Junior Championships, Malone secured his first taste of gold by dominating the 100m and 200m races. Little did he know that this success was just the beginning of an incredible journey that would lead him to even greater achievements.

The following year, at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, Malone showcased his talent on the world stage. He claimed silver medals in the 100m and 400m races before clinching gold as a member of the 4x100m relay team. It was a dream come true for Malone as he proudly represented Team USA and stood tall on the highest podium.

Fast forward two years, and Noah Malone once again proved his mettle at the 2023 Para Athletics World Championships in Paris, France. Competing for the first time in the City of Light, Malone not only maintained his success but raised the bar even higher. He set a championship record in the opening round of the 100m race, clocking an impressive time of 10.50 seconds. The following day, he secured his first career Para World Championships title by crossing the finish line in 10.53 seconds in the 100m final.

Malone’s achievements are even more remarkable considering the challenges he has faced. At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with Leber’s Heredity Optic Neuropathy (LHON), a rare genetic disease that causes central vision loss. Despite this life-altering condition, Malone has not let it deter him from pursuing his dreams.

Now 21 years old and a student at Indiana State University, Malone is one of the few legally blind Division I track athletes in the nation. As he gears up for his second Paralympic Games in Paris next year, Malone remains grateful for the unwavering support of his family, who have been his biggest supporters throughout his journey.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports, Malone shared insights into his life, ranging from his personal style to his goals for Paris 2024. He revealed his love for music, with Drake and Kendrick Lamar being among his go-to artists for hype music. When it comes to comfort food, Malone confessed his weakness for donuts, often indulging in five after a competition.

Malone’s preferred event is the 100m dash, as he jokingly points out that running 300 meters less than the 400m is a definite advantage. Apart from track and field, he expressed his interest in trying out paraskiing, a sport he has always wanted to explore.

When it comes to fashion, Malone values comfort above all else. He believes that looking good should never come at the expense of feeling comfortable. As a fellow sprinter and Paralympic gold medalist, Nick Mayhugh conducted the interview, engaging Malone in a conversation about their shared experiences and inspirations.

Looking ahead to Paris 2024, Malone aims to achieve nothing short of gold in every event he competes in. With his eyes set on winning more gold medals and potentially breaking world records, he is determined to bring back glory for Team USA.

Noah Malone’s journey to success is a testament to his indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication to his sport. Despite the hurdles he faces as a visually impaired athlete, Malone has proven time and again that determination knows no bounds. As he continues to defy the odds and inspire others, all eyes will be on him as he takes on the world’s best at the Paralympic Games in Paris next year.
