Crime Scene Investigation: Delhi Police Busts Sextortion Racket Involving Gays, Four People Arrested

On Friday 26th May, Delhi police successfully arrested four persons who were found to be involved in gay sextortion rackets in South-East Delhi. The accused utilized a popular social media application, called ‘GRINDER’, to trap victims. Following the complaints the police received, two mobile phones were recovered from possession of the accused.

According to District Commissioner of Police (Southeast), Rajesh Deo, the victims were threatened with stigmatization. As a result, they often surrendered to the extortion demands of the accused, and transferred the extorted money into their accounts. Following a detailed investigation, three accused were caught based on the transaction trail.

In the first case, two criminals, Arun Kumar (22) and Vishal Kohli (24), were quickly apprehended within 4-5 hours of the investigation, from Gali No. 6 Looni-2, Ghaziabad and Gali No. 5, Loni-2, Ghaziabad, respectively. The third suspect, Rajesh Kumar (42) was apprehended in Sahabad Diary, Delhi.

Regarding the second case, accused Anuj alias Banda (21), a resident of House No. 138, Sarita Vihar, Delhi, was arrested. Further investigations are currently ongoing.

The Delhi Police Department remains committed to preventing any illegal activities and activities such as sextortion rackets, by utilizing effective investigation techniques to ensure justice is served. The department’s firm action is commendable and sends a strong warning to all those intending to commit similar crimes. People are urged to report any suspicious activities in their area, to ensure the safety of the citizens.
