Tata Power recently announced a collaboration with Ranchi Airport Authority (RAA) to install two public Level-1 EV chargers. With this move, the company is looking to promote electric vehicle adoption in India and make charging solutions available to EV owners. The chargers will be able to provide power to the cars via standard household electrical outlets. With this new installation, hundreds of EV owners in Ranchi who come to the airport to receive or see off family and friends will be able to conveniently charge their vehicles while waiting.
Virendra Goyal, Head Business Development-EV Charging at Tata Power noted that they are proud to partner with Ranchi Airport and are working towards a common vision of sustainability and lowering of carbon footprints. Goyal further mentioned that the initiative is in line with the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan to promote electrification of private and public vehicles.
In recent years, Tata Power has been dedicated to installing EV charging infrastructure in the country. To date, the company has developed a network of more than 3,778 public and captive EV chargers across 350 towns and cities. The network includes 39,000 home chargers and 234 bus-charging points.
According to airport director K L Aggarwal of Birsa Munda Airport, this collaboration with India’s most reputable energy firm will help serve hundreds of EV operators by removing the anxiety associated with charging.
