Tesla is facing recalls on several of its electric vehicle models due to safety concerns, according to recent reports. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into 100,000 Tesla Model Y SUVs from 2023 over an issue with steering wheels detaching while driving.

In addition to this, Tesla has issued recalls for thousands of its vehicles in China and the United States. The first recall affects 2,649 Tesla Model S vehicles produced between 2015 and 2020. The recall was issued to address a problem with the front trunk latch lock, which could cause the front lid to unexpectedly open while driving, posing a safety risk.

Another recall involved approximately 1.1 million Tesla vehicles, including the Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. Chinese regulators ordered the recall due to concerns over the vehicles’ software, which required an update to improve braking methods and provide more warnings about accelerator pedal usage.

Now, Tesla’s 2023 models of the Model S, Model X, and Model Y are facing recalls. The National Traffic Safety Administration’s Safety Recall Report states that 1,337 vehicles may have a defect with their forward-facing cameras’ pitch angle, which could cause certain active safety features to be unavailable without alerting the driver. These features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The unavailability of these features without proper notification could increase the risk of collisions.

Tesla has identified 83 warranty claims and 2 field reports related to the camera defect. However, the company states that it is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or deaths resulting from this issue. Tesla plans to inspect and adjust the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras on all affected vehicles, free of charge under warranty.

The company will notify Tesla vehicle owners about the recall on September 12, after informing its stores and service centers on July 17. Tesla Service will conduct the necessary inspections and repairs to ensure the active safety features are functioning correctly.

It is worth noting that despite these recalls and setbacks faced by Tesla, the company has been a leader in electric vehicle production and deliveries. In the first half of this year, Tesla achieved a record number of deliveries, totaling approximately 889,000 vehicles.

These recalls highlight the importance of addressing safety concerns promptly and ensuring that all vehicles meet the highest safety standards. As Tesla works to resolve these issues, it remains committed to delivering innovative electric vehicles and pushing the boundaries of sustainable transportation.

In conclusion, Tesla is facing recalls on its Model S, Model X, and Model Y electric vehicles due to safety concerns related to steering wheels, front trunk latch locks, software updates, and forward-facing cameras. The company is taking proactive measures to address these issues and ensure that its vehicles meet the required safety standards. As Tesla continues to innovate in the electric vehicle market, prioritizing safety will remain crucial for maintaining customer trust and confidence.
