The Bihar Daily Passengers’ Association (BDPA) has urged the government to introduce a superfast Janshatabdi Express train that links Patna and Lucknow, the state capital. The demand was made due to the need of passengers who travel between the two cities to pursue studies or medical treatment. Railways have already been running a slow passenger train between Patliputra Junction and Lucknow, which is said to take a long ten hours journey of around 539 km.
BDPA General Secretary Shoaib Quraishi said that, at present, many people from Bihar travel to Lucknow for medical treatments and for students attending various courses of study there. Beatifically, the introduction of the Patna-Lucknow Janshatabdi Express is expected to reduce the time taken to reach Lucknow drastically.
The Danapur railway official have also reported that the traffic between Patna and Lucknow is already high, which translates to a potentially good revenue for the Indian Railways. Moreover, the official also has stated that the commercial viability of running the superfast train between the two cities is quite high.
If Patna-Lucknow Janshatabdi Express is successfully implemented, it will prove to be beneficial for a large group of people and would make a significant difference in the time taken to travel between these two cities.
