The University of Alabama’s Chemical and Biological Engineering Department is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position in the field of computational catalysis and machine learning. Under the guidance of Dr. Tibor Szilvási, the successful candidate will conduct research focused on understanding the nature of solid/liquid interfaces through atomistic simulation and electronic structure software. Proficiency in machine learning model development software, Linux environment, electronic structure theory (such as plane-wave DFT), atomistic simulations, and python programming is essential for this role.

To be considered, applicants should have a terminal degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or a related field, and a proven track record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will conduct structured merit-based evaluations as part of the selection process. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on research productivity.

The ideal candidate will possess experience and knowledge in atomistic simulation and electronic structure software, machine learning model development, and the Linux environment. Preference will be given to those with prior research experience in electronic structure theory, atomistic simulations, machine learning-based modeling of materials, and python programming.
