India’s G20 Presidency Strengthens Foreign Policy and Atmanirbhar Vision
India’s G20 Presidency has played a pivotal role in invigorating the country’s foreign policy and advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced on Thursday. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar highlighted the significance of India assuming the landmark G-20 Presidency, which will culminate in hosting the G20 Summit in September 2022. He emphasized that this Presidency has propelled India’s foreign policy efforts and endeavored to restore the nation’s rightful place in the world.
During its Presidency, India has aimed to address the most pressing challenges faced by humanity, especially those pertaining to developing nations. The country’s inclusive and human-centric approach to climate action and development has been a key focal point. Mission LiFE, which seeks to empower climate-friendly lifestyles, and the promotion of millets to address food security challenges, have been notable advancements. Additionally, India has advocated for the use of technology to transform people’s lives and drive sustainable development.
India’s G20 Presidency has also been marked by hosting several ministerial meetings on various topics across different cities in the country. The Development Ministers’ Meeting, Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting, Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, and Education Ministers’ Meeting are among the noteworthy gatherings. These events have exemplified India’s commitment to ensuring a truly national effort in fulfilling its Presidency responsibilities and showcasing the nation to the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bilateral visits to Australia, the US, Egypt, France, and the UAE have further reinforced India’s presence on the global stage. PM Modi’s participation in the Quad and G7 meetings in Japan and his co-chairing of the 3rd Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit in Papua New Guinea have demonstrated India’s active involvement in international affairs and its commitment to fostering peace, security, and prosperity for all.
India’s foreign policy is driven by the demands and aspirations of its society, making it people-centric and responsive.
