Dimapur Government College recently launched the Yuva tourism club on May 24, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Temsusenla Jamir. A total of 112 students have enrolled to become members, exemplifying the enthusiasm in participating. This activity is part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations initiated by the Ministry of Tourism. The objective of the club is to educate the youth on diverse culture and geography while also developing skills such as teamwork, management, and leadership. It would also promote responsible tourism activities and help people engage in sustainable tourism initiatives.
The launch of the club was officiated by Vice Principal Kezhaleu Hesso, who congratulated the newly appointed officers and the members. Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu from the IQAC coordinator informed the gathering that the Ministry of Tourism would support the programme by providing necessary support and resources. Office bearers are elected from the 2nd and 4th semester, and activities such as essay writing, logo designing, my shot, quiz, painting, and poster designing would be conducted under the club.
Dr. Temsusenla Jamir is an Assistant Professor at the Dimapur Government College as well as the teacher in-charge of the Yuva tourism club. She has worked to nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian tourism who would spread awareness about Indian Tourism and appreciate the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Kezhaleu Hesso is the Vice Principle of the Dimapur Government College and was the one to officiate the launch programme of the club. She urged the members to participate actively and benefit from the club activities. She also emphasized the importance of travel and tourism in education.
