Immigration lawyers in the UK have been exposed for offering advice on deceptive tactics and charging exorbitant fees of £10,000 to assist clients in fabricating false asylum claims, according to an investigation by the Daily Mail. A third lawyer proposed highlighting reasons such as anti-government political allegiances, being romantically involved with someone from the wrong caste, or identifying as gay to demonstrate a fear of life-threatening situations in India.
The report further uncovered allegations of multiple solicitors’ firms suspected of engaging in abuses related to asylum claims. Authorities are closely monitoring up to 40 firms amid concerns of carbon copy applications submitted by different individuals but represented by the same lawyers.
