Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its popular SUV, the Tata Safari. The interior of the new Safari has been revealed in recent images, showcasing premium upgrades and new features. When compared to the current model, the facelifted Safari boasts a significant leap in premiumness, quality, and opulence.
One of the most noticeable changes in the facelifted Safari is the leatherette cladding on the lower dash, complete with stitching. However, it is worth noting that Tata could have extended the leatherette cladding to the upper dashboard as well. Overall, the dashboard layout remains similar to the current model, but there are new central air vents and HVAC controls.
The central panel features a glossy finish with a carbon fiber effect, and it houses touch-sensitive buttons and two toggles, likely made of metal. Above the panel, there is a brand new infotainment screen, which appears to be slightly larger than the 10.25-inch unit seen in the Red Dark Edition of the Safari. The infotainment screen also has a bezel-less design and sharper corners, indicating a possible size increase to 12 inches or more. The instrument screen is a single-piece unit, giving the interior a more upmarket feel compared to the current triple screen setup.
The steering wheel in the facelifted Safari is also new and features Tata’s latest design language. It includes toggles for audio and cruise control, with the center likely to feature an illuminated Tata logo. Spy shots of the door pad reveal Tri-Arrow perforations, adding to the overall premium look and feel.
Moving on to the center console, it retains a similar layout to the current model but now features a smaller and more sophisticated gear selector. Additionally, there is a larger dial ahead of it with a circular display. While the current model allows users to select between different ESP (Electronic Stability Program) modes using this dial, it is hoped that the facelifted version will offer even more functionality, possibly including AWD (All-Wheel Drive) modes. There are also expectations for improved rear seat entertainment and ventilation options.
Under the hood, the Tata Safari facelift is expected to come with the company’s new 1.5L turbo petrol engine, delivering 170 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, coupled with a new DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox. The 2.0L Stellantis-sourced diesel engine will remain unchanged, offering 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter.
With the upcoming launch of the facelifted Tata Safari, customers can expect a significant improvement in terms of premiumness, quality, and feature enhancements. The new interior upgrades, along with the powerful engine options, will undoubtedly make the Safari a compelling choice for SUV enthusiasts. Tata Motors is expected to begin production in the coming weeks, with the launch likely to occur ahead of the Diwali festive season.
