BJP Accused of Turning Against India as Opposition’s INDIA Alliance Compares to Terror Outfits
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments comparing the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to terrorist organizations like the Indian Mujahideen and Popular Front of India. Shrinate expressed her disappointment, stating, It is sad that while fighting us, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now stood against India. She further added that equating INDIA with terrorist outfits and colonial powers like the East India Company is shameful.
During his speech, Prime Minister Modi drew a parallel between the British-era East India Company and terror groups that have India in their name, suggesting that the opposition’s decision to name their alliance INDIA was similar. The alliance consists of twenty-six opposition parties, including the Congress party, and was formed during a meeting held in Bengaluru.
The ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, which commenced on July 20, has faced disruptions due to protests and sloganeering by opposition members demanding a statement from PM Modi on the situation in Manipur.
In conclusion, the opposition’s INDIA alliance has attracted criticism and accusations from Congress party members, who argue that the BJP has turned against India itself. The alliance’s name, INDIA, has drawn comparisons to terrorist outfits and historical colonial powers, leading to a heated political debate during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
