Pakistan’s DI Khan District Sees Revived Development Projects Under New Coalition Government
The DI Khan district in Pakistan is experiencing a resurgence in development projects under the leadership of the new coalition government. Federal Minister for Communication and Postal Services, Maulana Asad Mahmood, accused the previous government of halting the development process in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, including DI Khan district. However, he highlighted that the present coalition government has actively restarted work on all halted development projects, setting a record number of project inaugurations.
During various visits to DI Khan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stones for eight mega development projects. Minister Asad Mahmood emphasized that upon completion, these communication projects will elevate DI Khan to an international trade and business hub. The government has successfully restored investor confidence and expedited work on various China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Notably, progress has been made on three grid stations in DI Khan, with one already completed, another nearing completion, and work on the third being expedited.
Minister Asad Mahmood proclaimed the Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway as a landmark project that has significantly contributed to the economic development of the entire area. He mentioned that after the 2013 general election, certain individuals launched a protest against the elected government of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Their opposition arose as Prime Minister Sharif initiated projects, including CPEC initiatives, the development of Gwadar Port, a network of motorways, and energy projects aimed at stabilizing the economy and promoting youth employment.
Minister Asad Mahmood expressed his belief that the Nawaz Sharif government was unjustly ousted in an attempt to destabilize the country and deprive the people of Pakistan of development opportunities.
