Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, recently announced that users of WhatsApp can edit their messages within 15 minutes of sending them. Long pressing on a sent message and choosing ‘Edit’ from the menu will enable users to change their message in up to fifteen minutes after sending. To indicate a message has been edited, the label ‘edited’ appears next to the message. As with all personal messages, calls and media messaging, end-to-end encryption will also protect all edited messages. This new feature will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, is considered one of the most popular instant messaging applications all around the world. With this new update, users can easily correct any mistakes, typos and add extra context to their messages within a certain time limit.
The company also recently introduced the ‘Chat Lock’ feature which provides an extra layer of security for users. As an extra security measure, this feature exits one’s chat from the inbox and puts it in a folder which can only be accessed by biometric verification like a fingerprint or a device password. Also, the contents of the chat are hidden in notifications.
