The Odisha government has asked District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) to submit a report regarding action taken against fake teachers within 15 days. In a letter by the Directorate of Elementary Education, it was stated that many certificates proving the authenticity of the teachers were found to be fake and not issued by authorised authorities. However, no action had been taken by the BEOs to address the situation.
In response to this letter, DEOs from Koraput and Ganjam have said that they are in the process of getting rid of the fake teachers in their systems. Purna Chandra Pati, President of the Utkal Parents’ Association, has accused the DEOs and BEOs of working in unison with the fraudsters and not taking enough measures to address the problem of fake teachers.
It is largely in the interest of the students and their education that the Odisha government has asked for the filing of reports to get rid of the fake teachers. The state government is determined to ensure that only qualified teachers are appointed in the state’s elementary education system in order to provide quality education and a secure learning environment for the students.
