A massive fire broke out in a theatre in Vijayawada on Sunday evening amidst a screening of Jr NTR’s 2003 hit Telugu film Simhadri. The film was re-released to mark the actor’s birthday and his fans gathered at the theatre to catch the show. Sparks flew when some of his fans burst crackers inside the hall, leading to the fire.
The firefighters had to be called in order to bring the fire under control, and the fans present had to be evacuated from the spot. Many of the spectators watched the events unfold from the balcony of the theatre. A video of the incident has gone viral, with people all across social media taking to it to lament and express their shock at such reckless behaviour.
While the film Simhadri was re-released on the special occasion of Jr NTR’s birthday, his fans have been called out for their irresponsible actions. Some people even accused them of needing to pay for the property damage that has been caused.
The film Simhadri was directed by SS Rajamouli and was the actor’s second outing with the director. The incident has put a sour end to the birthday celebrations of Tarak though, as these fans’ unruly behaviour takes away from the spirit of watching a movie at a theatre. Jr NTR is currently gearing up to shoot his upcoming movies, namely Devara with Janhvi Kapoor and War 2 with Hrithik Roshan.
The incident has also provided a lesson to other fans when it comes to attending theatre screenings. People should appreciate films responsibly and should avoid any activities that can put innocent lives at risk. No fans should have to pay for the damages caused by reckless behaviour during a movie celebration.
