According to a statement from her husband and bandmate, Brandon Watkins, Madi is now in a long term acute rehab facility where she is undergoing various forms of rehabilitation for her severe trauma.
Brandon took to the band’s Instagram account to provide an update on Madi’s progress. He mentioned that the rehab facility is working on cognitive, speech, and physical rehabilitation to help Madi recover. Despite the challenges, things are moving quickly, and she has been able to communicate with nurses through different hand signs like thumbs up or three fingers out. Recently, she has even started tracking visually and making eye contact, which gives hope for her recovery.
However, Madi is currently in an agitated state due to the pain and confusion resulting from the accident. Brandon explained that doctors say it’s a natural part of the waking up process. While it is difficult to witness her in pain, he remains optimistic and believes that things will improve from here on out. The road to recovery will be long, but Brandon expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported them during this challenging time.
To aid in Madi’s recovery, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds. Additionally, the band is selling benefit t-shirts, with all proceeds going towards Madi’s medical expenses.
