Final Candidates File for Municipal Elections in Rowan County

In China Grove, the challenger Carlos Cirino was the final candidate to join the board of aldermen elections on Tuesday. Incumbent Pat Phifer filed for reelection to the mayoral seat on Thursday.

In Rockwell, incumbent Stephenie Walker filed for the board of aldermen race on Tuesday, while Fred West joined the same race on Wednesday. Incumbent Chris F. Cranford also filed for reelection on Thursday.

East Spencer witnessed incumbent Deloris High filing for reelection to the board of aldermen on Tuesday, with challenger Steven Joseph joining the race on Friday.

Spencer had incumbent Rashid H. Muhammad joining the race for a board of aldermen seat on Tuesday. Erin Moody, a challenger, entered the aldermen race on Thursday, and Tom Strini joined the race for the mayor seat on the final day of the filing period.

Salisbury’s races saw challenger Charles T. Dean III filing for election to the city council on Wednesday, while Gemale Black filed for the city council race on Thursday.

Lastly, in Landis, challenger Katie Sells filed for the mayoral election.

Now that the filing period has concluded, the next steps in the election process are absentee voting by mail starting on October 6 and the early voting period beginning on October 19. The election day itself is set for November 7 this year.
