Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on the G20 nations to ensure an affordable, inclusive clean energy transition and not leave developing countries behind. Speaking via a video message to the G20 Clean Energy Ministerial meeting in India, PM Modi emphasized the importance of advancing sustainable and clean energy transitions while ensuring that the Global South receives low-cost finance to support their development efforts.
The Prime Minister highlighted the need to bridge technology gaps, promote energy security, and diversify supply chains. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration on fuels for the future and invited members to join India’s Green Grids Initiative – One Sun, One World, One Grid of the International Solar Alliance. Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy R K Singh also addressed the meeting, calling on developed nations to support poorer countries in their energy transitions.
