Apple Develops its Own ChatGPT-Like ChatBot to Catch Up with Competitors
In an attempt to catch up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing AI, Apple is reportedly developing its own generative AI tools. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has ramped up its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) after being taken by surprise by the success of ChatGPT and other chatbot technologies.
Sources familiar with the matter have revealed that Apple has created its own framework known as Ajax to build large language models, similar to ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Moreover, Apple has also developed a chatbot service internally, referred to as Apple GPT, utilizing this framework.
Although Apple was an early pioneer in AI assistants with the launch of Siri in 2011, AI technology has never been one of its strong suits. When compared to other AI assistants, Siri often falls back to Google searches when it struggles to comprehend user commands.
Insiders claim that Apple’s tool essentially replicates the capabilities of Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI without offering any innovative features or technology. The system is accessible as a web application, featuring a minimalistic design not intended for public use.
