Bhopal: BJP Accuses Kamal Nath of Sharing Atomic Bomb Info with US
In a surprising revelation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Kamal Nath, a prominent member of the Congress party, of sharing sensitive information about India’s atomic bomb program with the United States in 1976. The accusation stems from a document released by WikiLeaks, which allegedly contains details of a discussion between Nath and the US Consul General in November 1976.
According to the document, Nath, who at the time was a businessman and a confidant of Sanjay Gandhi in West Bengal, informed the Consul General that India was in the process of developing two more atomic bombs and planned a peaceful nuclear explosion. The discussion reportedly took place within the context of US-India relations.
The BJP spokesperson, Pankaj Chaturvedi, took to Twitter to share the document, adding fuel to the fire. State BJP president VD Sharma also weighed in, stating that WikiLeaks had exposed Kamal Nath and demanding an explanation from the Congress party veteran.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja, who was once close to Nath when he was in Congress, called for the Congress leadership to ask for Nath’s resignation in light of the report. Saluja labeled Nath’s alleged actions as astonishing and anti-national. He further highlighted a previous incident when slogans in support of Pakistan were raised during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
In response to the accusations, Congress media cell president KK Mishra defended Kamal Nath, emphasizing that no one should question his patriotism. Mishra accused the BJP of stooping to the lowest level during an election year. He also drew a comparison between Nath and Dhruv Saxena, a local BJP leader who was caught spying for Pakistan.
The accusations against Nath have sparked a political storm, with the BJP insisting on an explanation and demanding accountability from the Congress party. On the other hand, the Congress has rallied behind Nath, defending his integrity and accusing the BJP of playing dirty politics.
It remains to be seen how the controversy will unfold and whether Kamal Nath will respond to the allegations against him. With both parties firmly standing their ground, this political battle could have far-reaching consequences in the run-up to the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh.
