NHAI Conducts Safety Inspection of Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Highway
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has formed a committee to conduct safety inspections of the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway. The committee is currently on-site and is expected to conclude its study by July 20th.
The Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway, which spans 118 kilometers and includes a section of NH-275, was inaugurated in March 2023. This corridor has significantly reduced travel time between the two cities in Karnataka, cutting it by almost half to just 75 minutes.
To enhance safety and ease traffic congestion, the highway features four rail overbridges, nine major bridges, 40 minor bridges, 89 underpasses and overpasses, and six bypasses constructed for the towns of Bidadi, Ramnagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya, and Srirangapatna.
In addition to improving connectivity between Bengaluru and Mysuru, this access-controlled highway also provides a vital link between Karnataka and neighboring states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It has effectively decongested popular tourist destinations such as Coorg, Srirangapatna, Wayanad, and Ooty.
The NHAI is committed to ensuring the safety of travelers on national highways. Enhancing safety on the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway is one of their topmost priorities. By carrying out this safety inspection, the NHAI is proactively addressing any potential concerns and seeking to maintain a safe, smooth, and seamless travel experience for all commuters.
Once the committee concludes its visit, they will submit their detailed report within 10 days. The NHAI aims to address any identified safety issues promptly and take necessary measures to rectify them. This proactive approach will help to sustain the highway’s ability to serve the people of Karnataka by promoting safe travel.
In conclusion, the safety inspection of the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway by the NHAI highlights their commitment to ensuring the well-being of travelers. This initiative will contribute to maintaining the highway’s reputation as a safe and reliable transportation route. By proactively identifying and addressing safety concerns, the NHAI aims to provide a seamless and secure travel experience for all commuters.
