Wolves Remain Determined to Sign Bristol City’s Alex Scott as Transfer Bid Rejected Again

Wolverhampton Wanderers are undeterred in their pursuit of Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, with reports suggesting that the Premier League club will table a third bid for the 19-year-old in the coming weeks.

Newly appointed Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui is eager to add Scott to his squad ahead of the upcoming season. The Championship club had already rejected previous offers from both Wolves and Bournemouth, valuing the young midfielder at £25 million. Wolves initially offered around £20 million, with additional payments based on achievements and incentives.

The refusal to further negotiate the transfer fee hasn’t dampened Wolves’ enthusiasm for securing Scott’s services. If a deal can be reached, he would become the club’s first significant signing of the summer. Wolves have raised approximately £80 million from the sales of Ruben Neves, Conor Coady, Nathan Collins, and Dion Sanderson.

Scott, an England under-20 international, has been an integral part of Bristol City’s lineup and was named the Championship’s young player of the year for the 2022/23 season. Despite interest from rival Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth and West Ham, Wolves remain hopeful that they can reach an agreement with Bristol City this month.

Adding Scott to their squad would strengthen an already formidable midfield at Molineux. Even with the departure of captain Neves, who joined Al Hilal in a £47 million move to the Saudi Pro League, Wolves signed Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes earlier this year to prepare for the loss. Additionally, Matheus Nunes, who played on the wing last season, is waiting for an opportunity to showcase his skills in central midfield.

Tom King, a 28-year-old goalkeeper signed on a free transfer from Northampton, is the only addition to Wolves’ squad so far in this transfer window. Compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations necessitated selling before buying for the club.

As Wolves continue their pursuit of Alex Scott, fans eagerly await news of any progression in the negotiations. Supporters are hopeful that Scott’s arrival will further strengthen their team ahead of the upcoming season.
