CTG International and Shanghai Animation Film Studio have joined forces to launch the Summer Animation Festival in Shanghai. This cultural and tourism program, which will run from July to September, aims to boost summertime tourism and showcase the origins and evolution of Chinese animation.

The festival will feature a range of original and immersive experiences that incorporate Shanghai Animation Film Studio’s well-known animation IPs. Visitors can look forward to stage performances, exhibitions, and interactive activities based on iconic characters such as The Magical Pen, Pigsy Eats Watermelon, and Little Fighter.

CTG International, a leading operator of hotels and resorts, will incorporate these animation IPs into its scenic spots and resorts, offering a unique blend of entertainment and accommodation. Wang Fan, CTG International’s deputy general manager, expressed his excitement about providing people with a gratifying and unforgettable summer experience through the multidimensional presentation of Chinese animation’s beauty and glory.

Shanghai Animation Film Studio has a rich tradition of animation filmmaking and has produced over 500 works in various artistic genres over the years. Shen Yue, the studio’s deputy director, emphasized the significance of the festival, stating that it will evoke nostalgia and memories of iconic Chinese animation characters while injecting fresh energy into picturesque areas.

The Summer Animation Festival is set to become an annual event, attracting families and children who can enjoy parades of animation characters, film screenings, theme concerts, and plays. The festival will also extend its theme to hotel rooms and restaurants, incorporating elements from the animation IPs to provide a fully immersive experience for visitors.

With approximately 30 million tourists visiting CTG International’s roughly 50 scenic spots and resorts each year, the Summer Animation Festival is expected to draw even more visitors to Shanghai. Yang Haijuan, deputy general manager of CTG International’s Operation Center, mentioned that there are still many creative ideas and tailor-made services to explore for summertime tourists, particularly families with children.

The festival aims to showcase the beauty of Chinese animation, celebrate its rich history, and captivate visitors with a nostalgic and immersive experience. By leveraging the popularity of animation IPs and incorporating them into various aspects of the festival, CTG International and Shanghai Animation Film Studio have created a unique and appealing tourism program that promises to entertain and delight visitors of all ages.

With a blend of stage performances, exhibitions, interactive activities, and even animation-themed hotel rooms and restaurants, the Summer Animation Festival is set to offer a one-of-a-kind experience that will leave visitors with cherished memories. As the festival becomes an annual tradition, it will surely become a highlight on Shanghai’s tourism calendar, enticing more people to explore the magic and charm of Chinese animation.
