Abu Dhabi has officially launched its Family Wellbeing Strategy with the approval of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. The strategy, which was ratified at a recent Council meeting, seeks to strengthen family units as the fundamental building blocks of society by providing guidance and counseling services, work-life balance policies, a life skills program, community centers, and support for seniors.
In order to develop the strategy, the Department of Community Development engaged with more than 30 entities to understand their existing strategies and plans. They also conducted 23 focus groups to analyze social challenges and held 16 interviews with leaders across Abu Dhabi Government to discuss national priorities and opportunities for improving residents’ quality of life.
Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, commented on the launch, stating, The Abu Dhabi Wellbeing Strategy is the result of a robust and highly collaborative process with key partners to develop projects and innovative programs that empower all family members. He emphasized the importance of the family unit as the backbone of society, highlighting the valuable skills, knowledge, and experience that seniors bring to the community.
The Family Wellbeing Strategy aims to address various aspects of family life and support parents in their roles. In addition to offering financial literacy and planning services for every generation, the strategy will also provide community centers where families can engage in activities and access resources. These centers will serve as hubs for guidance and counseling, work-life balance support, and a life skills program designed to equip family members with valuable skills for personal and professional development.
