Carlos Alcaraz, the rising tennis star, is making waves at this year’s Wimbledon. At only 20 years old, he finds himself in the semi-finals, going head to head with Russian player Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz’s journey to this point has been nothing short of remarkable, and his performance on the court has not gone unnoticed.

Born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, a village near Alicante, Spain, Alcaraz began playing tennis at a young age at his father’s local club. His father, also named Carlos, is the academy director of the club and still lives with his son in a two-floor penthouse flat. Alcaraz’s parents have played a significant role in his life and his tennis career. His father used to run an estate agency, and his mother worked at IKEA until recently.

Financial support came in the form of Alfonso Lopez Rueda, the president of Postres Reina, a Spanish cake and yoghurt giant. Rueda’s funding enabled Alcaraz to travel to a junior tournament in Croatia when he was just 10 years old. Since then, Alcaraz has continued to receive support from Postres Reina, even sporting their logo on his sleeve.

Alcaraz broke onto the ATP scene in 2020, making his debut at the Rio Open in Brazil at the age of 16. He continued to impress by reaching the third round of the Australian Open and becoming the youngest ever match-winner at the Madrid Open, beating a record set by Rafael Nadal.

Last year, Alcaraz made history by winning his first major title at the US Open. At just 19 years old, he became the youngest ever world No. 1 in the ATP Rankings, also becoming the first teenager to end the year as world No. 1. His remarkable achievements and on-court success have garnered him fame and fortune.

Alcaraz has sponsorship deals with global brands such as Calvin Klein, Rolex, and Nike. Through these deals and his prize money earnings, he has amassed a significant fortune. While Alcaraz enjoys the perks that come with his success, such as receiving a BMW each year, he remains grounded and humble. He has also been involved in charity work, supporting a Spanish charity that helps people with Down’s Syndrome.

Despite his young age and rapid rise to stardom, Alcaraz stays focused on the game and continues to strive for success. His idolization of Roger Federer and his unwavering determination have propelled him to these heights. As he gears up for his semi-final match at Wimbledon, Alcaraz remains calm and collected, ready to face whatever challenges come his way.

If he manages to win the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy on Sunday, Alcaraz plans to commemorate the moment with a tattoo. His grandfather’s motto, cerebro, corazon, y cojones (brains, heart, and balls), holds deep meaning for him and symbolizes the qualities that have fueled his journey.

Carlos Alcaraz is a force to be reckoned with in the world of tennis. His talent, work ethic, and down-to-earth demeanor have captivated fans and earned him praise from his peers. As he steps onto Centre Court at Wimbledon, all eyes will be on this young Spanish prodigy, eager to witness the next chapter of his extraordinary career.
