Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s Y category security has been removed by the Uttar Pradesh government. The decision was made based on a report from the state level security committee, which concluded that there was no justification for maintaining Azam Khan’s security.

Azam Khan, who is also the national general secretary of the Samajwadi Party and a former minister, had been under Y category security until now. However, after reviewing the report, the state government decided to withdraw the security detail provided to him.

As per the government’s recommendations, the police personnel assigned to Azam Khan’s security will now be reassigned to other duties. This move comes in light of recent legal troubles faced by Azam Khan and his family.

In February 2023, Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam, who is also a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), were sentenced to two years imprisonment by an MP/MLA court in Moradabad. The case dated back to 2008.

Furthermore, in May, Azam Khan, along with his wife Tanzeen Fatima and a clerk of the Basic Education Department named Taufeeq Ahmad, were chargesheeted in a case related to the alleged use of forged documents for obtaining recognition for Rampur Public School. The school is run by the Jauhar Trust, headed by Azam Khan himself. The First Information Report (FIR) for this case was lodged in 2020.

Since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, a total of 81 cases have been filed against Azam Khan in Rampur on various charges.

It remains to be seen how this decision to remove Azam Khan’s security will impact his personal safety and political activities. While some may view it as a necessary step in light of the security committee’s report, others may perceive it as a politically motivated move. As with any such decision, it is important to consider different perspectives and opinions.

Azam Khan has been a prominent figure in Uttar Pradesh politics for many years, and his influence within the Samajwadi Party cannot be overlooked. As the news of his security removal spreads, it is likely to generate both support and criticism from various quarters.

In conclusion, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to remove Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s Y category security based on the recommendations of the state level security committee. This decision comes in the wake of legal troubles faced by Azam Khan and his family. It remains to be seen how this move will impact his personal safety and political activities, and it is important to consider different perspectives when analyzing such developments.
