The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) has recently launched an English language information platform to cater to foreign investors. Called the ESG Infohub Taiwan Market Dashboard, this platform provides users with comprehensive market analysis and highlights, as well as industry-specific and company-specific information. It also offers regulatory information about doing business in Taiwan.
The TWSE aims to encourage greater foreign investment in Taiwan through this platform. Investors can now easily access E (Environment), S (Social), and G (Governance) information about specific companies and make comparisons between companies and across industries to identify opportunities in the ever-growing ESG market.
According to TWSE CEO and Chairperson Sherman Lin, the recent AI boom and the expected decrease in U.S. interest rates have attracted more foreign capital to Taiwan’s stock market. In the first half of 2023, foreign capital accounted for nearly 40% of the market. The technology, semiconductors, and electronic components sectors represent more than 50% of the market.
In terms of growth, Taiwan’s stock market saw a significant increase of nearly 20% by the end of June, making it the second-fastest growing stock market in Asia, just after Japan.
The TWSE shared that the revenue of listed companies in Taiwan reached NT$40.78 trillion (US$1.31 trillion) in 2022, highlighting the country’s strong market performance.
This new English language information platform aims to provide easy access to crucial information for foreign investors interested in the Taiwan market. By integrating ESG factors, the TWSE hopes to attract more foreign investment and bolster Taiwan’s position as a leading financial hub in the region.
In conclusion, the Taiwan Stock Exchange has launched an ESG investing information platform available in both Chinese and English. This platform, called the ESG Infohub Taiwan Market Dashboard, allows investors to access market highlights, analysis, and specific information about companies and industries. With the recent surge in foreign capital and positive market performance, this new platform aims to attract more foreign investment and enhance Taiwan’s status as a prominent financial market in Asia.
