Three members of a family tragically lost their lives when the roof of their house collapsed during heavy rainfall in Punjab’s Kotkapura. The victims, Gurpreet Singh (31), his pregnant wife Karamjit Kaur (30), and their four-year-old son Gavy, were sleeping when the roof gave way at around 4 am. Another family member, 15-year-old Manisha, who was staying over, was injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Neighbors were awakened by a loud crashing sound and immediately rushed to help rescue the victims. Faridkot Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar explained that due to the heavy rain, water had accumulated in the vacant plot adjacent to the family’s house, causing cracks in the outer wall that ultimately led to the roof’s collapse.
The news of this tragic incident spread rapidly, prompting Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who is also the AAP Kotkapura MLA, to visit the site. Sandhwan assured all necessary help and support to the injured girl.
