Thane: TMC Commissioner Orders Removal of Road Barricades, Prioritizes Pothole Repairs
Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner, Abhijit Bangar, has taken a significant step towards improving the condition of Thane’s roads. In a recent review meeting, Bangar instructed the removal of barricades on roads, excluding those in the metro construction area, to facilitate smoother traffic flow. The meeting, attended by TMC officials, engineers, and representatives from various agencies, aimed to address concerns about potholes and roadworks in the city.
Expressing his zero tolerance for potholes, Bangar directed all agencies, including TMC, Metro, Public Works Department (PWD), and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), to conduct strict surveys within their respective road limits. However, he made it clear that patchy road repairs should not be accepted, emphasizing the importance of prompt action before citizens suffer any inconvenience.
To ensure quality repairs, the executive engineers of TMC have been tasked with personally verifying the condition of the roads after repairs are carried out. Similarly, officials from other agencies are urged to adopt a proactive approach and employ the use of mastic, a cost-effective alternative to cold mix, for asphalting and filling potholes. According to Bangar, this technology has yielded favorable results in other instances of road repair.

By adhering to the guidelines set forth by Google, the TMC aims to enhance online search results related to the city’s infrastructure initiatives, ultimately benefiting residents and visitors alike.
