Infovista, a leading provider of network planning and optimization solutions, has unveiled its latest software update, Planet 7.9, which aims to improve 5G network planning for mobile operators. The company claims that accurate network planning can result in significant cost savings for operators, estimating that it can reduce CAPEX by $2 billion over a 10-year period.
Planet 7.9 offers operators increased accuracy and confidence when planning 5G networks. By integrating with Accenture’s umlaut crowdsourced data points, the software provides operators’ RF engineers with heatmaps of key network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This allows them to make informed decisions based on the most up-to-date and comprehensive network performance data. The software also takes into account hourly and daily variations in network performance, ensuring that operators have access to the most accurate data when planning their networks.
In addition to enhanced data analysis capabilities, Planet 7.9 introduces advanced modeling features to improve network design analysis. The software now includes vegetation canopy and bridge modeling, which is crucial for accurately predicting network coverage in areas with trees and other obstructing structures. By modeling factors such as trunk height, canopy height, and seasonal variations, Planet 7.9 improves the prediction accuracy for picocell and small cell coverage under tree canopies.
The latest version of Planet also offers improvements in network analysis. Operators can extract 2D statistics from 3D analysis, enabling slice analysis at specific heights. The software also provides network analysis template color profiles, allowing for easy map updates with a simple click. Furthermore, Planet 7.9 offers improved Google Earth and ESRI exports for network analysis outside of the software.
Régis Lerbour, VP Product Management for RAN Engineering and Network Testing at Infovista, acknowledged the challenges faced by operators when planning 5G networks. He emphasized the importance of considering real-world scenarios, such as tree foliage during the summer, building heights, and subscriber experiences. Planet 7.9 aims to address these challenges by leveraging artificial intelligence and providing RF planners with the necessary tools and datasets to design 5G networks that not only meet Key Performance Indicators but also support overall business outcomes.
The launch of Planet 7.9 demonstrates Infovista’s commitment to providing industry-leading solutions for 5G network planning and optimization. By offering enhanced data-driven analysis capabilities and advanced modeling features, the company aims to empower operators to make informed decisions, improve network performance, and ultimately deliver a high-quality 5G experience to their subscribers.
