Amitabh Bachchan’s Mili, Rajesh Khanna’s Bawarchi, and Jaya Bachchan’s Koshish to be Remade in Upcoming Projects

Three iconic Bollywood films from the 1970s are set to be remade for a modern audience. Anushree Mehta and Abir Sengupta of Jaadugar Films, along with Sameer Raj Sippy of SRS Productions, are teaming up to produce official Hindi remakes of the classics Mili (1975), Koshish (1972), and Bawarchi (1972).

Directed by celebrated filmmakers Gulzar and Hrishikesh Mukherjee, these timeless movies have captivated audiences for decades. Starring legendary actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and Sanjeev Kumar, these films showcased their career-best performances.

Jaadugar Films, known for their successful spy comedy Mrs Undercover, are excited to embark on this magical journey of recreating these beloved movies for a new generation. Sameer Raj Sippy, the grandson of renowned producer N. C. Sippy, expressed his intention to bring classic stories into a modern setting while maintaining their essence.

Speaking about the remakes, Jaadugar Films said, Koshish, Bawarchi, and Mili are celebrated in India and across the globe. These are the films we have grown up on, and they are the stories that the new generation should also witness, to know our rich cinematic legacy.

Sameer Raj Sippy added, I now want to continue this legacy that has been handed down by my grandfather, Shri N. C. Sippy, my uncle Romu Sippy, and my father Raj Sippy.

Although the cast and crew of the remakes have yet to be announced, fans of these evergreen classics are eagerly anticipating who will step into the shoes of the iconic characters.

By breathing new life into these cherished films, Jaadugar Films and SRS Productions aim to pay homage to the original directors and actors while introducing their magic to a new audience.

The remakes will provide an opportunity for today’s viewers to appreciate the craftsmanship and storytelling that defined the golden era of Indian cinema.
