Three unidentified individuals on a motorcycle managed to rob two employees of a CNG station near Iffco Chowk on the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, making off with a whopping ₹9.35 lakh in cash. The incident occurred at around 11 am on the service lane towards Delhi. The employees were on their way to their head office in Sushant Lok 1 to hand over the cash when the robbers struck.
The victim, Krishnakant Raman, who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, revealed that he has been working at the Sector 31 CNG station for six years and frequently carries cash. However, this was the first time such an incident had taken place. Raman and his colleague were nearing Iffco Chowk when three helmet-wearing men suddenly appeared and snatched the bag of cash from Raman’s shoulders. The culprits then quickly fled towards Delhi. In the process, Raman’s colleague lost control of the scooter, causing them both to fall on the road. Unfortunately, they were unable to note down the registration number of the motorcycle. They immediately informed the gas station manager, who promptly notified the police.
Police officials arrived at the scene and took statements from the victims. Subsequently, a case was filed against the three unidentified suspects under sections 379 (snatching) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 18 police station on the same day.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya assured the public that investigation teams were diligently working on the case. They were also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to aid in identifying and apprehending the suspects as quickly as possible.
Instances like this highlight the need for strengthened security measures across the region, especially in areas with high footfall and commercial activity. CNG stations, in particular, often deal with large sums of money and are susceptible to such criminal activities.
