The Hummingbird Centre, a beloved cancer support center in Launton, near Bicester, is gearing up to host its annual summer festival. After months of hard work, the organizing team is putting the finishing touches on the event, and they are hoping for a large turnout to enjoy the festivities.

Set to take place on Saturday, July 15, at Launton Playing Fields, the Summer Festival promises to be a fun-filled day for all attendees. With 30 stalls lined up, including food vans, ice cream stands, and various vendors, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

The organizers have planned several exciting activities and competitions to keep the guests entertained throughout the day. One of the highlights is the opportunity to guess the number of balloons inside a car. Those who guess correctly will have the chance to win a bottle or two of alcohol or a collectible teddy bear.

For those in need of relaxation amidst the excitement, the wellness area will offer massage and meditation sessions. Guests can take a break from the festivities and indulge in some self-care.

If refreshments are on your mind, volunteers from The Hummingbird Centre will be serving tea, coffee, and cakes throughout the day. For those who prefer something stronger, Launton Sports and Social Club’s bar will be open to cater to their needs.

Back by popular demand, the festival will also feature a dog show. No pre-booking is required, and anyone can enter their beloved pooch into one or all of the nine categories, including best veteran, best rescue, and the judge’s favorite. The fastest sausage eater will also be crowned at the event.

Jemma Young, a member of the festival’s organizing team, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event. She mentioned that there will be plenty of stalls selling arts and crafts, providing guests with a wide variety of shopping opportunities. Additionally, this year’s festival will showcase classic cars, giving attendees the chance to admire these timeless vehicles and chat with their owners.

The entry fee for the Summer Festival is only £1, and children under 16 can attend for free. All proceeds from the event will go toward The Hummingbird Centre’s forever home appeal. The center is in need of a larger permanent space to continue serving the community with equine therapy, counseling, holistic treatments, and relaxation spaces.

CEO Renee Booth stressed the importance of the fundraising efforts and the search for a suitable forever home for The Hummingbird Centre. The organization is committed to securing its future and every penny raised at the Summer Festival will contribute to this endeavor.

The Hummingbird Centre’s Summer Festival promises to be a day full of fun, laughter, and community spirit. It is an opportunity for people to come together, support a noble cause, and enjoy the festivities. So mark your calendars for Saturday, July 15, and join in the celebration at Launton Playing Fields. The gates will open at 12 noon, and the organizers can’t wait to welcome everyone to this beloved event.
