The West Boulevard Road multi-level parking facility project in Tiruchi is reaching its final stages of construction, with the Corporation stepping up efforts to complete the work. The Tiruchi Corporation has also proposed renting out commercial shops and restaurant spaces within the complex.
The project was initiated under the Smart Cities Mission and commenced in September 2019 at a cost of ₹19.70 crore. The construction took place on a 4,000 square meter plot of land after the demolition of the historic City Club building. The four-storey building includes two floors dedicated to four-wheeler parking, with a capacity of 138 vehicles each, and two floors for two-wheeler parking, accommodating a total of 536 vehicles.
Despite initial delays, the project is now nearing completion, with minor pending works expected to be finished within a month. The introduction of the multi-level parking facility is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the commercial streets surrounding West Boulevard Road.
In addition to the parking facility, the complex will house 23 commercial shops, a restaurant, and a coffee shop. The Corporation plans to rent out these commercial spaces at a rate of ₹93 per square foot, in line with the rates set by the Public Works Department. Tenders for the rental spaces will be issued once the pending works are completed.
The multi-level parking facility and commercial complex aim to ease traffic congestion and provide convenient parking for traders, shopkeepers, and visitors to Madurai Road, Singarathope, and nearby areas.
