Lexus Unveils Pricing for New and Revamped LX Luxury SUV in South Africa
Lexus has confirmed the revised pricing for its all-new LX luxury SUV, making it the most expensive model ever sold in South Africa. Despite being priced in May last year, Lexus has now revealed the updated sticker prices for the range-topping VIP specification model. The LX is the upmarket sibling of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and shares its body-on-frame TNGA-F platform. However, the LX sets itself apart with its distinctive Lexus design elements, including the Spindle Grille, restyled LED headlights, and unique taillights.
Compared to its predecessor, the new LX is 200 kilograms lighter and boasts a length of 5,100 millimeters, a width of 1,990 millimeters, a height of 1,895 millimeters, and a wheelbase of 2,850 millimeters. The LX offers seating for up to seven passengers in the base model, while the F Sport accommodates five and the top-spec VIP offers seating for four.
In terms of off-road capabilities, the LX comes equipped with the Multi-Terrain Monitor as standard, allowing drivers to maneuver through various terrains with ease. Additionally, the LX offers six driving modes through the Multi-Terrain Select system, including Auto, Sand, Dirt, Mud, Snow, and Rock. The low range transfer case, Crawl Control system with five settings, Active Height Control air suspension, and electronic rear diff-lock further enhance the SUV’s performance both on and off the road.
The LX features a drive mode selector with six settings, allowing drivers to choose between Eco, Normal, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Custom driving modes. It also comes equipped with a Torsen limited-slip differential, Adaptive Variable Suspension with front and rear damping, and retuned power steering for improved handling.
The LX offers aesthetic enhancements in the F Sport variant, including F Sport bumpers, door sills, and gloss black mirrors. It also features a black lip spoiler, 22-inch F Sport alloy wheels, and a unique color called White Nova. Inside, the F Sport variant boasts a perforated leather steering wheel and seats, aluminum inserts, F Sport branded illuminated door sills, and a choice of black or Flare Red interior colors.
The top-of-the-line VIP model offers additional luxury features, such as a rear seat entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays and wireless headphones. The rear chairs in the VIP model can recline in an ottoman fashion up to 48 degrees and come with heating, ventilation, and massaging functions. In addition, the VIP model includes wood inserts, memory functions for the seats, and premium leather upholstery.
Under the hood, the LX retains the same powertrain options as the Land Cruiser 300. The LX 500d is powered by a 3.3-liter V6 diesel engine producing 227 kW and 700 Nm of torque. The LX 600, on the other hand, is equipped with a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine generating 305 kW and 650 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The top speed for all LX models is limited to 210 km/h, with fuel consumption figures of 8.3 L/100 km for the LX 500d and 11.3 L/100 km for the LX 600.
The LX is available in various colors, including White Quartz, Sonic Titanium, Raven Black, Manganese Luster, Graphite Black, and Terrane Khaki. Each model comes with a seven-year/100,000 km warranty and service plan.
With its revised pricing and luxurious features, the new Lexus LX aims to attract discerning customers who seek a blend of luxury, performance, and off-road capability. By incorporating Lexus’ signature design elements and advanced technologies, the LX positions itself as a premium offering in the competitive South African SUV market.
