On Wednesday night, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police apprehended a contract killer involved in a shootout at Jama Masjid in Delhi. The suspect, named Kamil, was shot in the knee during the encounter. Kamil and his associates had carried out a sensational killing at a hotel in the Jama Masjid area on May 17-18. The police recovered a Turkish Zigana pistol, believed to be a first copy, from the suspect.
During the incident, Kamil fired approximately 25 rounds, sparking panic in the area. The hotel owner was severely injured, and his brother-in-law, who intervened, was tragically killed. Authorities found twenty empty cartridges at the scene, and it is believed the motive behind the shooting was personal enmity.
Kamil has a long criminal history, having been implicated in over twelve cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, assault, criminal intimidation, and offenses related to the Arms Act. HGS Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, formed a team led by Inspector Shiv Kumar to apprehend the accused. Mohammad Kamil, also known as Nahid, was arrested after a brief exchange of gunfire, sustaining a bullet wound to his right knee.
Kamil is a notorious contract killer associated with the feared Arif-Salman gang from Meerut. During the encounter, Kamil and the police exchanged at least five bullets. Kamil fired three rounds at the police team, while the Special Cell officers responded with two shots, with one hitting Kamil’s leg. The automatic Turkish Zigana pistol used in the shootout was seized, and investigators revealed that the motorcycle used by the accused had been stolen from the Sarojini Nagar area.
